Implementation of the policy "Lame delegations in AFRINIC reverse

1 October 2018 - The policy "Lame delegations in AFRINIC reverse DNS" <https://afrinic.net/en/services/afrinic-irr> has been ratified on 21 March 2018.

The policy ensures that lame delegations appearing in the reverse DNS are acted upon by equipping the WHOIS with automatic checks, notifications to admin-c, tech-c and zone-c contacts of domain objects and removal of lame delegations after 30 days.

On day 1 of every month, a fresh scan of WHOIS domain objects is performed and checks made for lame delegations. During the next 30 days, multiple lameness checks are performed. Up to 4 notifications are sent to admin-c, tech-c and zone-c contacts of domain objects with lame delegations as long as the lame delegations are detected, allowing them to act upon them.

AFRINIC has published a manual <https://www.afrinic.net/services/lame-delegation> for members to act on the lame delegations. At the end of the 30-day period, remaining lame delegations are automatically removed from the WHOIS.

These features have been deployed in the WHOIS.

La politique " Lame delegations in AFRINIC reverse DNS " <https://afrinic.net/fr/services/afrinic-irr> a été ratifiée le 21 mars 2018. La politique garantit que les délégations ‘lame’ apparaissant dans le DNS inverse sont activées en équipant le WHOIS de vérifications automatiques, de notifications aux contacts admin-c, tech-c et zone-c d'objets de domaine et de la suppression des délégations lame au bout de 30 jours.

Une nouvelle analyse des objets du domaine WHOIS est effectuée et des contrôles sont effectués pour les délégations lame le premier jour de chaque mois. Plusieurs contrôles sur les délégations lame sont effectués pour une période de 30 jours. Jusqu'à 4 notifications sont envoyées aux contacts admin-c, tech-c et zone-c des objets de domaine avec des délégations lame, tant que sont détectés des délégations lame, leur permettant d'agir en conséquence.

AFRINIC a publié un manuel <https://www.afrinic.net/services/lame-delegation> à l'attention des membres pour qu'il agisse contre les délégations lame. À la fin de la période de 30 jours, les délégations lame restantes sont automatiquement supprimées du WHOIS.

Ces fonctionnalités ont été déployées dans le WHOIS.

27 September 2018 - We invite all individuals wishing to make presentations during AFRINIC-29, which will be held from 26 November to 29 November 2018 to submit abstracts. The meeting website is now up at https://meeting.afrinic.net/afrinic-29/.

Your contribution can be in the form of a presentation during a session, a tutorial, or a live technical demonstration. Kindly read all information carefully before submitting your proposal.


Speakers’ Guidelines

  • The maximum time allotted per presentation will not exceed 30 minutes.
  • The presenter(s) will be required to upload their final presentation in PDF format, no later than five (5) days prior to the presentation date.
  • Presenters are responsible for producing any handouts if required. There are usually approximately 200 delegates in each session. Presentations with marketing and/or commercial content will not be considered.


How to submit a Presentation Proposal

  1. Please register/login on the AFRINIC-29 website at:https://meeting.afrinic.net/afrinic-29/?option=com_afmeeting&view=login
  2. Fill in the online form with the requested information.
  3. In the Speakers section, provide your abstract, your biography and slides if available, then click submit and you are done!


Important dates to note

  • Deadline for submitting an application - 12th October 2018
  • Notification of acceptance of application - 26th October 2018
  • Submission of draft presentation - 2nd November 2018
  • Submission of final presentation - 20th November 2018

Nous avons habituellement une audience constituée d'environ 200 délégués pour chaque session.

Les présentations avec un contenu commercial ne sont pas autorisées.
